You may want them to know a little bit about our personality and your brand sure absolutely but the bigger picture we want is for them to think “Wow this girl knows what she’s doing or this guy knows what he’s talking about and he’s super credible to be teaching on this content”.
- Encouragement or value
I am a huge believer that your entire email marketing strategy should be consistently showing up and adding value to your customers. it is necessary to include some element of value in that very first welcome email.
You need to immediately set the tone and expectation for what they can expect from future emails by immediately adding some form of value.
It makes that customer think “Wow that’s helpful or That was encouraging or That was free I can’t imagine how good the paid stuff’s gonna be”. You want them to walk away from this initial email feeling like they got some form of a quick win.
- CTA
It’s otherwise known as a call to action. Think of this as giving them somewhere else to go. You have to keep in mind that your customers will continue to interact with you after reading your first welcome email.

You want to end this email by reminding them that you are going to continue showing up in their inbox to deliver an impactful value to their day-to-day and that they might want to mark you as a safe center or keep their eyes peeled for the next email.
It may be coming tomorrow or next week; you can even tease that next email by saying “Next week I’m gonna be sending you some of my absolute best tips for this topic”. That way they will be excited and eager to open the next email that you send. They won’t unsubscribe or delete your email when they see your name pop up instead, they’ll be stoked to open that next email from you.
